Airtel Africa has announced a more than two-fold increase in profit after tax to $586 million, highlighting strong financial performance driven by growing demand for data and mobile money services across its African markets. The results reflect improved operational efficiency and steady expansion in the company’s customer base, as digital connectivity continues to deepen across the continent.
The telecoms group said revenue growth was supported by increased smartphone penetration and higher usage of data services, alongside continued momentum in its mobile money platform. Airtel Africa operates in multiple countries across East, West and Central Africa, where mobile financial services are playing a key role in driving financial inclusion.
Company executives noted that disciplined cost management, network investments and favorable market conditions contributed to the improved profitability. They added that ongoing investments in infrastructure and digital services are expected to sustain growth, even as economic conditions remain mixed in some markets.
The strong profit performance positions Airtel Africa as one of the continent’s leading telecom operators and underscores the resilience of Africa’s digital economy, as demand for connectivity and mobile-based services continues to rise.
