Tunisia’s ANAVA Fund of Funds has committed $4 million to Rasmal Innovation Fund I, a Qatar-based venture capital initiative, in a strategic move aimed at bridging Tunisian startups with broader investment networks across the Middle East and North Africa. This investment marks a significant step in ANAVA’s mission to globalize Tunisia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by connecting it to high-growth markets and unlocking access to capital beyond national borders. Rasmal Ventures, founded in 2023, launched its debut fund in June 2024 under the umbrella of the Qatar Investment Authority’s $1 billion Fund of Funds program. Targeting a final close of $100 million, the fund focuses on early to growth-stage investments in fintech, B2B SaaS, healthtech, and logistics, sectors that are central to the region’s digital transformation and economic diversification.
ANAVA’s participation reflects a deliberate strategy to amplify the impact of public capital through a fund-of-funds model supported by international development partners, including the World Bank, Germany’s KfW Development Bank, and Tunisia’s Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations. This model not only mobilizes private investment but also strengthens Tunisia’s positioning as a rising innovation hub within the MENA region. The fund’s management team includes Tunisian national Soumaya Ben Beya Dridje, formerly of Smart Capital, whose involvement underscores the fluid exchange of talent between public and private sectors in emerging markets. Her leadership adds a layer of regional insight and credibility to the fund’s operations, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive and locally grounded investment strategies.
By backing Rasmal Ventures, ANAVA aims to elevate the visibility of Tunisian startups, facilitate access to growth-stage financing, and foster cross-border collaboration that can accelerate scale and impact. The partnership sends a strong signal of international confidence in Tunisia’s entrepreneurial potential and its capacity to produce globally competitive ventures. It also reflects a broader shift in regional investment dynamics, where strategic alliances between public institutions and private capital are reshaping the landscape for innovation. As Tunisia continues to nurture its startup ecosystem, this collaboration with Rasmal Ventures represents a bold and forward-looking effort to position its entrepreneurs at the heart of regional and global opportunity.
