Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote has signed a landmark US$1 billion investment agreement with Zimbabwe, which includes plans to build a 2,000-kilometre fuel pipeline stretching from Walvis Bay in Namibia, through Botswana, and terminating in Bulawayo, according to the Memorandum of Understanding inked with President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The ambitious infrastructure project is expected to reshape Zimbabwe’s energy landscape, reduce its reliance on expensive fuel imports, and dovetail with Dangote’s broader plans to bolster regional storage, fertiliser, cement, and power generation capacity.
