Rabat - Delta Air Lines has officially launched its inaugural nonstop flight connecting Atlanta and Marrakech, marking a significant milestone for the U.S. carrier. The first flight arrived at Marrakech Menara Airport today.
The airline highlighted the diplomatic significance of the new route, emphasizing that it strengthens the bond between the U.S. and Morocco, while positioning Marrakech as a key destination for American travelers.
The inaugural flight was operated with a Boeing 767-400ER, and the new service will run three times a week. Delta noted that this new air route provides access to Marrakech from over 125 U.S. cities via its global hub in Atlanta.
With this launch, Delta becomes the first airline to offer a nonstop service between the two cities.
“This new service is also a key expansion for Delta into North Africa, adding Marrakech to our growing network alongside Accra, Lagos, Dakar, Cape Town, and Johannesburg,” the company said.
Christine Marchand-Pardo, Delta’s Managing Director of EMEAI Operations, celebrated the route as an exciting development in the airline’s ongoing efforts to connect the U.S. with Africa.
“This route opens the door to one of the world’s most vibrant and culturally rich destinations, making travel easier for our customers. With three weekly flights from Atlanta, we’re offering convenience alongside Delta’s premium service. From lie-flat seats in Delta One to curated dining and thoughtful amenities in every cabin, customers can expect comfort every step of the way,” Marchand-Pardo said. The new service also aims to solidify Atlanta’s position as the leading global hub.
Flights from Marrakech will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while departures from Atlanta will be scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Additionally, to meet the demand for holiday travel, Delta will offer daily service between the two cities from December 18 to January 6, 2026.
“With seamless one-stop connections through Atlanta, this route makes Marrakech accessible to U.S. travelers, linking Morocco to cities across the U.S., including Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Boston, Miami, San Francisco, and more,” the company added.
This announcement comes amid continued efforts to strengthen U.S.-Morocco relations. The two nations share a free trade agreement that began in January 2006, with trade between them reaching $3.4 billion in 2024, a significant rise from $34 million in 2005.
