The MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025 conference, set to take place in Dakar from December 9–10, is poised to spotlight Guinea-Conakry’s dynamic energy transformation. Among the key speakers are Cem Haciouglu, CEO of West Africa LNG (WALNG), and Katrin Puetz, CEO of the biogas innovation company (B)energy. Their participation reflects the region’s evolving energy landscape, which is increasingly defined by a dual-track approach: large-scale industrial infrastructure and decentralized clean energy solutions. This convergence of perspectives underscores the MSGBC region’s commitment to inclusive growth and energy resilience.

WALNG, recently granted approval by the government of Guinea-Conakry to construct an LNG terminal at the Port of Kasmar, is leading efforts to expand the country’s gas-to-power capacity. The terminal is expected to unlock new opportunities for industrial, mining, and infrastructure sectors by ensuring a reliable and scalable energy supply. WALNG’s expertise spans the design and operation of LNG receiving terminals, regasification plants, pipelines, and production facilities, positioning the company as a key player in Guinea-Conakry’s energy modernization.

On the other end of the spectrum, (B)energy is championing grassroots sustainability through its BiogasUnite platform, which aims to revitalize up to 175,000 dormant biogas cooking systems across Africa. By connecting users with technicians via smart metering and app-based services, the platform reduces costs, supports entrepreneurship, and expands access to clean cooking solutions. Headquartered in Germany but active across the continent, (B)energy’s market-driven model empowers communities to generate and manage their own energy without relying on aid, making it a powerful tool for decentralized development.

The presence of both CEOs at MSGBC 2025 highlights the region’s balanced energy future—one that embraces both high-tech infrastructure and community-led innovation. Their insights are expected to shape critical discussions on energy access, sustainability, and investment, reinforcing the conference’s role as a catalyst for collaboration across West Africa’s power sector. As Guinea-Conakry continues to expand its energy portfolio, the convergence of LNG and biogas solutions offers a compelling blueprint for a diversified and resilient energy ecosystem.
