Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, arrived in Beijing, China, on Tuesday for a series of high-level military engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.
On Wednesday, Gen Kainerugaba and his delegation toured the China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation (CATIC), a leading state-owned defence enterprise specializing in aviation technology. Guided by the company’s Vice President, the delegation explored advanced aviation equipment, underscoring the technological expertise China offers.
The visit also includes Gen Kainerugaba attending a military conference with counterparts from various nations and holding strategic talks with his Chinese counterpart.
Welcomed at the airport by senior Chinese military officials, Gen Kainerugaba is accompanied by Major General Dan Kakono, Artillery Division Commander, and Major General Felix Busizoori, 4th Division Commander.
Uganda and China have enjoyed a longstanding military relationship since 1986, collaborating in military training and peace support operations. This visit is expected to further solidify these ties, as Gen Kainerugaba continues his diplomatic efforts to deepen Uganda’s military partnerships globally.
Since becoming CDF, Gen Kainerugaba has actively engaged in diplomatic military visits to countries including Russia, Rwanda, Algeria, Mozambique, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He has also hosted high-level military discussions in Kampala with representatives from France, the UK, and the USA.
