Kampala, Uganda | Housing Finance Bank (HFB) has partnered with WaterQuip Uganda Limited to install a water purification system at St. Joseph’s Nursery and Primary School in Nansana, providing safe drinking water to more than 900 pupils and staff.
The initiative, under HFB’s Water Supply and Sanitation Solution, promotes access to clean water, improved sanitation, and healthier learning environments in schools and communities across Uganda many of which still struggle with preventable waterborne diseases such as typhoid and malaria.
The newly installed system can store up to 600 litres of purified water, ensuring consistent supply even during power outages. Speaking at the commissioning, Doreen Nyiramugisha, HFB’s Head of Marketing and Communications, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to sustainability and community well-being.
“This project reflects our mission to enhance lives and empower communities through practical, lasting solutions,” she said.
WaterQuip Uganda CEO, Adrine Atumanya, commended the partnership, noting that access to safe water is a fundamental human right. She added that such collaborations are vital in advancing Uganda’s progress toward achieving Sustainable Development Goal 6 clean water and sanitation for all.
