Rubanda West NRM flag bearer Bruce Balaba Kabaasa has announced a groundbreaking school feeding program aimed at improving the welfare and performance of Primary Seven (P7) candidates in the constituency. This initiative, set to launch during the upcoming Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), promises to ensure that every P7 candidate receives a meal during the exam period.
At a recent thanksgiving service held at St. Mark’s Kaara Church of Uganda in Muko Sub-county, Kabaasa unveiled his vision for the program, which was initially proposed during his NRM primaries campaign. The program seeks to alleviate the challenges students face by providing meals during the crucial examination days, thus allowing candidates to focus on their studies without the added worry of meals or the cost of school supplies. Kabaasa explained that the initiative will work closely with schools and parents to create a holistic support system for students. “This program is designed to ensure that Primary Seven learners are able to focus entirely on their exams without worrying about meals and other needs,” he said. “I also call upon school administrators to refrain from demanding any additional contributions for meals during the PLE period.”
The program will be piloted during this year’s PLE and aims to provide all candidates in the constituency with nutritious meals. The initiative also highlights Kabaasa’s commitment to addressing the broader welfare of students in Rubanda West, making education more accessible and equitable for all. During the same event, Kabaasa emphasized the importance of community-driven development. He encouraged locals to revive Bulungi Bwansi (community development projects) and expressed his strong support for local initiatives aimed at improving community well-being. “I will work with you to create a sustainable future for our children and our communities,” he added.
The thanksgiving service, which was hosted by Ronald Hospital in memory of his parents, also featured speeches from prominent local figures, including Emeritus Bishop Rt. Rev. Enock Kayeye and Muko Archdeacon Ven. Ernest Nkwasibwe. Bishop Kayeye reminded the congregation to live righteously and support Kabaasa in his bid for office, urging the candidate to prioritize the rehabilitation of the Muko–Kaara road once elected. In response to the community’s concerns, Kabaasa acknowledged the deplorable condition of the Muko–Kaara road and assured the public that he would lobby the government for the necessary intervention. He also made a personal contribution of UGX 2 million towards the construction of the parish priest’s house and reminded the congregation of his earlier donation of 100 bags of cement to Kaara Church of Uganda’s Compassion Project.
With the unveiling of his school feeding program, Kabaasa has reaffirmed his commitment to improving education and community welfare in Rubanda West. His focus on tangible, community-centered initiatives like this one reflects his deep engagement with the issues that matter most to local voters. As the election season heats up, Kabaasa’s call for unity and collaboration with the community stands as a promise of a brighter, more sustainable future for the region.
