New statistics reveal that this year’s Marhaba operation concluded with record-breaking numbers, as over 4.06 million Moroccans living abroad returned home between June 10 and September 15. This represents nearly an 11% increase compared to 2024.

Sanae Derdikh, Communications Director of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, told Moroccan news agency MAP that these figures highlight not only the strong connection between Morocco and its diaspora but also the significant human and logistical efforts made to ensure their safe return.

Her statement comes in response to rumors suggesting that the number of arrivals during the operation was considerably lower than in previous years. Derdikh refuted these claims, pointing out that during peak periods, more than 86,000 people crossed into Morocco daily.

The foundation, in collaboration with various institutional partners, set up a network of 26 reception sites—20 in Morocco and 6 abroad—manned by over 1,000 staff members, including social workers, doctors, and nurses. Medical and social services provided direct assistance to more than 88,000 diaspora members, including over 22,000 instances of administrative and customs support, more than 7,500 medical interventions, and over 1,575 cases of transport assistance.

Derdikh also emphasized King Mohammed VI’s dedication to Moroccans living abroad, noting that the foundation remains committed to offering tailored reception and support services each year.

Omar Moussa Abdellah, the project manager overseeing the operation at the Foundation, confirmed that the operation was a success, with peak entry and exit periods effectively managed.
