Rabat – Moroccan student Yasmine El Mezouari El Glaoui secured third place in the global final of the 24th edition of the "Chinese Bridge" competition, held in Fujian Province, China.
The Chinese Embassy in Morocco congratulated El Glaoui, whose Chinese name is Yang Simin, for her achievement, noting that it “reflects her talent and underscores the vitality of cultural and educational exchanges between Morocco and China.”
A student at the Confucius Institute of Hassan II University in Casablanca, El Glaoui showcased exceptional proficiency in Chinese language and culture. The institute celebrated her accomplishment, noting that she not only qualified among the top 30 from 155 candidates worldwide but also earned third prize—an outstanding achievement that places Morocco on the global podium for excellence in the Chinese language.
El Glaoui’s success is attributed to her “rigorous work” and “passion” for Chinese language and culture. Earlier this year, she won the Special Prize at the "Chinese Bridge" competition’s final phase in Rabat, where she demonstrated traditional Chinese calligraphy and performed a tea ceremony.
The "Chinese Bridge" competition is one of the most prestigious global events for students of Chinese language and culture, bringing together participants from around the world to display their speaking skills and knowledge of Chinese history, traditions, and arts.
Interest in Chinese language and culture has been growing in Morocco, with more students enrolling in Confucius Institutes and others opting for study and exchange programs in China. These institutes, funded by the Chinese government, aim to promote Chinese language and culture globally through partnerships with institutions abroad.
