Morocco’s Women’s Futsal Team Rises 16 Spots in FIFA Rankings After Historic Victory
The Moroccan women’s futsal team has etched its name in history, climbing 16 places in the latest FIFA world rankings after clinching the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title on home soil.
The rankings update comes just months before the inaugural Women’s Futsal World Cup, set for November in the Philippines.
While Brazil retains the top spot, the rankings will play a key role in determining seedings for the tournament draw scheduled for September 15.
According to FIFA, Morocco played more matches than any other women’s futsal team during the ranking period, competing in 15 fixtures.
Their performance propelled them from 47th to 31st, with their African Cup of Nations victory also securing their place at the World Cup.
Since April’s update, teams worldwide have played 95 matches, bringing the total number of women’s futsal internationals this year to 206.
Morocco’s remarkable achievement not only crowns them African champions but also marks them as one of the fastest-rising teams globally.
