Next Media has launched Next Creata, an innovative platform designed to revolutionize Uganda’s creative and influencer economy by providing artists, creators, and influencers with sustainable income opportunities from their work.
At the launch event, attended by prominent figures such as Thomas Tayebwa, Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Next Media CEO Kariisa spoke about the untapped potential within the creative sector, which has been hindered by several key challenges. “The creative industry is facing many obstacles,” Kariisa said. “The most critical are delayed payments, lack of standardization, and high production costs. Next Creata is here to address these issues, ensuring creators are respected, supported, and most importantly, paid on time.”
Next Creata aims to be a comprehensive platform where creators can showcase their work, collaborate with brands, and receive timely and transparent payments.
Kariisa also emphasized that the platform aligns with Next Media’s broader vision to drive innovation and accelerate the growth of Uganda’s digital economy. “Today’s youth are brimming with talent and creativity,” he stated. “What they need is a system that recognizes their efforts, rewards their output, and provides them with opportunities to grow. That’s exactly what Next Creata stands for.”
Deputy Speaker Tayebwa commended Next Media for contributing to national development through innovation, highlighting the importance of a well-structured creative sector as a major source of income and employment for Uganda. “The future belongs to creators,” Tayebwa remarked. “Platforms like Next Creata will not only help monetize talent but will also professionalize the industry, turning it into a respected and well-compensated career path.”
Industry professionals, influencers, and entertainers present at the event praised Next Creata as a timely solution to the longstanding issues facing Uganda’s creative sector — from underpayment and lack of industry standards to limited access to production resources.
