A Starsky Aviation passenger plane carrying 55 people narrowly avoided disaster after performing an emergency landing at Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport in Somalia on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. The aircraft encountered a technical problem about 15 minutes after takeoff, prompting the pilot to return to the airport.

During the emergency landing, the **Fokker 50 aircraft overran the runway and came to rest in shallow water along the Indian Ocean shoreline near the airport. Despite the dramatic scene, all 50 passengers and 5 crew members were evacuated safely, and no injuries or fatalities were reported.

Passengers were transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation as a precaution, but officials confirmed that everyone aboard was unharmed. Images circulating on social media showed evacuees walking away from the aircraft along the shore.

Somalia’s Civil Aviation Authority said investigations have begun to determine the exact cause of the technical issue that led to the emergency landing. The pilot has been praised by airline and aviation officials for decisive action that helped ensure the safety of everyone on board.
