In a move to promote digital inclusion and modern learning, Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu (OBR) has distributed tablets donated by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) to selected secondary schools in Kasese and Bundibugyo. The initiative targets visually impaired learners and aims to enhance accessibility and research capabilities in the kingdom.
The donated tablets, initially used for the 2020 National Population and Housing Census, were part of a larger UBOS contribution of 5,195 devices to cultural institutions and public higher education institutions across Uganda. OBR received 120 tablets, which it has now allocated to secondary schools to support learning and research.
Kingdom Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Benson Kule Baritazale explained that each constituency received one tablet, with Busongora North and Bukonzo East receiving two each. “These devices are more than just tools they symbolize our commitment to empowering students with the technology skills needed to thrive in a digital world,” he said.
The initiative is part of OBR’s broader effort to bridge the digital divide, particularly for visually impaired learners, and to enhance research capabilities in schools. By equipping students with these devices, the kingdom aims to foster inclusivity, encourage digital literacy, and ensure that all learners can access modern educational resources.
Conclusion:
The distribution of UBOS-donated tablets marks a significant step toward inclusive and technology-driven education in Kasese and Bundibugyo. Stakeholders are encouraged to support such initiatives, helping students harness digital tools to achieve academic success and thrive in Uganda’s evolving digital landscape.
