Kampala, Uganda | PostBank Uganda’s Chief Financial Officer, Peter Ssenyange, has emerged a standout figure at this year’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Awards, walking away with two major accolades CFO of the Year and the Sustainability Award.
The annual CFO Awards celebrate exceptional leadership in finance, spotlighting professionals who continue to raise the bar of financial excellence and sustainability across Uganda.
Reflecting on his achievement, Ssenyange said the recognition affirms the collective effort of his team and PostBank’s commitment to sustainable growth.
“This win is a culmination of teamwork, strong management support, and a clear strategic direction that drives meaningful impact for our staff, customers, and shareholders,” he remarked.
He further noted that this year’s awards theme was a call to leadership and legacy-building, emphasizing the pivotal role finance plays in shaping organizational success.
Over his five-year tenure at PostBank currently rebranding to Pearl Bank Ssenyange has overseen remarkable growth. The bank’s income has surged by 20% to Shs 248 billion, deposits have climbed 25% to Shs 990 billion, and the loan book expanded by 19% to Shs 719 billion as of 2024.
Delivering the keynote address, NSSF Managing Director Patrick Ayota urged CFOs to move beyond the numbers and focus on creating lasting impact within their organizations.
“No office sits closer to the heart of an organization than finance. True financial leadership means using that position to inspire accountability and transformation,” Ayota emphasized.
Guest of Honour Assistant Auditor General James Bantu applauded ACCA Uganda and Deloitte Uganda for their continued efforts in recognizing excellence within the financial sector.
“Over eight editions, 45 CFOs have been recognized and 65 awards presented across nine categories proof that financial leadership remains a cornerstone of institutional success,” he said.
Ssenyange’s double triumph follows PostBank’s recent Sustainability Certification in Germany, reaffirming its commitment to advancing sustainability within Uganda’s banking industry.
As the bank transitions to Pearl Bank, it continues to execute its five-year strategic plan, anchored on driving sustainable financial inclusion and stimulating entrepreneurship and service core to its purpose of fostering prosperity for Ugandans.
Now in its ninth edition, the CFO Awards, launched by Deloitte Uganda and ACCA Uganda, continue to celebrate the vital role finance leaders play in advancing accountability, innovation, and sustainable growth across organizations.
