The search for more than two dozen missing schoolgirls in northwestern Nigeria has intensified as security forces widen their operations across forests and major escape routes. The girls were abducted during a pre-dawn attack on their boarding school, an assault that also left the vice principal dead.

Military units, police, and local vigilante groups are now conducting round-the-clock searches in an effort to locate the victims and track down the armed men responsible. Authorities say they are expanding surveillance and tightening roadblocks as part of the rescue mission.

Nationwide, frustration and anger are growing. Many Nigerians accuse the government of failing to prevent yet another mass kidnapping a pattern that has deeply shaken the country over the past decade. Citizens and activists say the repeated attacks highlight chronic lapses in security and demand stronger protection for schools and rural communities.

International organisations have also condemned the abductions and urged urgent action, while families of the missing girls continue to wait anxiously for news of their loved ones.
