Sudan’s Sovereign Council, under army chief Abdelfattah al-Burhan, has expressed its readiness to cooperate with the United States and Saudi Arabia to end the country’s civil war. The council welcomed ongoing US-Saudi mediation efforts to halt fighting and affirmed its commitment to seriously engage in peace initiatives. This comes amid a U.S.- and Arab-backed proposal for a humanitarian ceasefire, which Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has agreed to.
