KAMPALA — Jackie Tahakanizibwa’s career spans multiple sectors media, banking, brewing, and now steel and through each she has emerged as a change‑maker. With a focus on relationships, adaptability, and purpose, she is now leading external and corporate affairs at Uganda Baati, where sustainability and industrialisation are key priorities.
Tahakanizibwa got her start at Nation Media Group Uganda, working as a personal assistant in the managing director’s office. That role exposed her to high‑level decision‑making early on, helping her build foundation skills in communication, stakeholder engagement, and strategic thinking.
She later transitioned to banking, serving as head of corporate affairs at Post Bank. During that period, she honed financial literacy, regulatory engagement, and brand building skills. The move into brewing followed, where she focused on responsible drinking programmes and regulatory collaboration.
In September 2025, she took up her current role at Uganda Baati. Here, she is tasked with championing industrial growth and sustainability in the steel sector. Communication, storytelling, and emotional engagement remain at the heart of how she builds trust with stakeholders.
Balancing a demanding career with family life hasn’t been easy. As a wife and mother of four, she has set strict boundaries protecting weekends, avoiding non‑urgent work after hours, and ensuring quality time with family. She emphasises understanding the culture of each workplace, being proactive, and maintaining integrity in all engagements.
Tahakanizibwa credits part of her success to continuous learning and formal training: she holds a Diploma in Public Relations from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (UK). Her view: in a fast‑changing corporate world, adaptability and relational skills often matter just as much as technical expertise.
