The Uganda High Commission in Tanzania hosted a vibrant celebration on Sunday to mark Uganda's 63rd Independence Anniversary, reaffirming the deep and lasting ties between the two nations. The event, held in Dar es Salaam, brought together senior officials, diplomats, the business community, Ugandans in the diaspora, and friends of Uganda to celebrate over six decades of progress and unity.
Cosato Chumi, Tanzania's Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, congratulated Uganda, highlighting the strong bilateral relations nurtured under the Uganda-Tanzania Joint Permanent Commission (JPC). He emphasized how this collaboration continues to drive progress in trade, infrastructure, energy, and security.
East African Community (EAC) Secretary General, Veronica Nduva, also joined in celebrating the enduring partnership and the spirit of regional integration.
In his address, Col. (Rtd.) Fred Mwesigye, Uganda's High Commissioner to Tanzania, reflected on the long-standing friendship between the two countries, praising Tanzania’s support in Uganda’s political, economic, and social development.
The celebration featured Ugandan cultural performances, music, and a culinary showcase of traditional dishes, offering guests a taste of Uganda’s rich heritage.
