Kampala: In a gesture of appreciation for Ugandan football fans, the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for CHAN-2024, led by First Lady Janet Museveni, announced on Thursday that it has purchased all available tickets for the third-place playoff between Sudan and Senegal. The 28,000 tickets will be offered free of charge for Friday’s match at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

Uganda, which co-hosted CHAN-2024 alongside Kenya and Tanzania for the first time, said the initiative rewards fans for their enthusiastic support throughout the historic tournament. “Thank you to all football fans that have made our homeland proud during this historic experience of hosting CHAN-2024. You have made the experience both memorable and a successful one at that,” Museveni said.

Fans can access free tickets exclusively via CAF’s official online portal using the promo code CHAN3RD. Each person is allowed up to three tickets, and all passes will be marked “NOT FOR SALE” with standard CAF security features. Personal details, including name, email, and contact number, must be submitted to complete the booking. No third-party ticket distribution is authorized, and entry will only be permitted with genuine, non-duplicated CAF-issued tickets.

The Sudan vs. Senegal match kicks off at 6 p.m. and will be preceded by a one-hour pre-match entertainment show featuring Ugandan artists Jose Chameleone, John Blaq, Elijah Kitaka, and Vinka. Festivities will continue after the game during the official CAF medal ceremony.

This fixture marks Uganda’s final hosting role in CHAN-2024, which concludes Saturday in Nairobi with the championship match. CAF reminded fans that all standard tournament regulations, including prohibited-item rules, remain in effect at Namboole Stadium.
