Ugandan Investment Banker Anne Aliker Appointed Head of Africa Regions – Corporate and Investment Banking at Standard Bank.
Ugandan investment banker Anne Aliker has been appointed as the Head of Africa Regions – Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) at Standard Bank Group, Africa’s largest bank by assets. This appointment represents a significant milestone for Ugandan leadership in the continental finance sector.
Announced on October 30, Aliker’s promotion reflects Standard Bank’s commitment to fostering African leadership and elevating local talent to key strategic positions across its network. Luvuyo Masinda, the Group Chief Executive for CIB, highlighted that this move aligns with the bank’s growth ambitions and future strategy.
“Our growth objectives within CIB remain central to our vision as we continue to unlock new opportunities, deepen client engagement, and build a future-proof franchise,” said Masinda. “Anne’s extensive experience and proven strategic leadership across the continent will play a crucial role in driving these goals.”
With over 20 years of experience in banking, Aliker brings a wealth of knowledge to her new position. She has held several senior roles within Standard Bank, including Head of CIB Uganda, Head of Investment Banking for Africa Regions and International, and most recently, Head of Client Coverage. In her new role, she will oversee CIB operations across 20 African markets, focusing on business development, client strategy, and regional integration, all aimed at driving sustainable growth.
Masinda described Aliker’s appointment as a key moment in the bank’s ongoing transformation across Africa.

These include Anne Juuko, Regional Head for Global Markets, East Africa; Francis Karuhanga, Regional Chief Executive for Southern and West Africa; Doreen Rwakatungu-Musiime, Group Chief Audit Executive; and Patrick Mweheire, Senior Group Executive and former Regional Chief Executive for East Africa.
