Vipers Sports Club made a commanding start to their 2025/26 preseason with a 3-1 victory over Rwanda’s Gorilla FC at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday. The Venoms were relentless from kickoff, controlling possession, pressing aggressively, and creating early chances that set the tone for the match.
Captain Milton Karisa opened the scoring with a precise header from Derrick Ndahiro’s free kick, giving Vipers an early lead. After halftime, young talent Abubakali Walusimbi added a moment of magic by curling a corner kick straight into the net, doubling the advantage. Gorilla FC briefly reduced the deficit through Mandja Moise, but Vipers restored their two-goal cushion when substitute Gusto Mulongo finished a flowing move orchestrated by Pedro Sukuya.
This friendly clash is part of a two-match preseason series, with the second leg set for Thursday at Kitende. The games offer Vipers the perfect platform to sharpen combinations and build rhythm, especially with eight of their stars representing the Uganda Cranes at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.
As Vipers continue preparations, the strong performances signal a team ready to hit the ground running for the new season, combining emerging talent with experienced internationals to maintain their domestic dominance.
