KAMPALA, Uganda — More than 500 residents of Katanga, Wandegeya, benefited from a free community health camp organized by Housing Finance Bank in partnership with C-Care Uganda at St. Peter’s Church of Uganda.

The outreach, held as part of Housing Finance Bank’s Customer Service Month activities, focused on preventive healthcare through free medical screenings, vaccinations, and wellness education.

Participants received screening and testing for common illnesses such as malaria, HIV, and sexually transmitted infections, as well as prostate-specific antigen (PSA) tests. In commemoration of World Polio Day on October 24, the camp also offered polio vaccinations to support ongoing eradication efforts.

Beyond diagnostics, medical professionals provided consultations and counseling sessions on nutrition, physical fitness, and general well-being equipping community members with tools to lead healthier lives.

Focus on wellness and community
Peace Ayebazibwe, Executive Director at Housing Finance Bank, said the initiative demonstrates the bank’s dedication to social impact beyond financial services.

“By holding this health camp, we are celebrating our customers while contributing to the well-being of the communities we serve,” Ayebazibwe said. “This aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3, which promotes good health and well-being as a foundation for progress.”

Prudence Asobola, Manager at C-Care Uganda, emphasized the importance of accessibility and awareness in improving community health outcomes.

“Together with partners like Housing Finance Bank, we are ensuring that essential healthcare reaches those who need it most,” Asobola noted.

The initiative highlights Housing Finance Bank’s holistic approach to customer care recognizing that financial empowerment and physical well-being go hand in hand in building sustainable communities.
