Kampala, Uganda | Vivo Energy Uganda has announced a three-day strategic tour of key oil and gas installations in the Albertine Graben, set to run from October 21–23.
The delegation, led by Managing Director Joanita Mukasa Menya, who also chairs the Sustainable Energies and Petroleum Association of Uganda (SEPA-U), will visit the Tilenga and Kingfisher projects, Kabalega Industrial Park, Hoima City Stadium, and related infrastructure.
The visit aims to deepen the company’s understanding of Uganda’s upstream and midstream petroleum operations while strengthening collaboration across the energy value chain.
This tour comes shortly after Vivo Energy Uganda formalized a joint venture with the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) to develop Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) storage facilities at Kabalega Industrial Park, under the oversight of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.
The LPG project will support Uganda’s refinery and gas developments, enhance access to clean cooking energy, and advance the national goal of achieving 20% household LPG adoption by 2030. Engineering and site preparation works will begin soon, alongside other major developments such as Hoima International Airport.
Speaking ahead of the visit, Joanita Mukasa Menya emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between downstream players and ongoing upstream progress.
“Uganda’s oil and gas sector is at a defining moment as we prepare for first oil. It’s vital for the downstream sector to understand and align with developments upstream and midstream,” she said.
Valery Okecho, Corporate Communications Manager at Vivo Energy Uganda, added that the visit will foster greater synergy across the petroleum value chain.
“We aim to build stronger connections and identify new opportunities in fuel supply, LPG uptake, and downstream innovation. This collaboration will help us better serve our customers and support Uganda’s energy transition,” he noted.
The tour underscores Vivo Energy Uganda’s continued commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions and contributing to the country’s evolving petroleum landscape.
